YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps) Faces Legal Trouble Over Controversial Remarks on ‘India’s Got Latent’; FIR Filed, Police Summons Issued

YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, is currently embroiled in controversy due to an inappropriate remark he made on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show, “India’s Got Latent.” During the show, Allahbadia posed a question to a contestant that was widely criticized for its offensive nature. The backlash was swift, with social media users and political figures condemning the comment. In response, Allahbadia issued a public apology, acknowledging that his attempt at humor was inappropriate and unfunny. He also requested the removal of the offensive content from the show’s recording.

The controversy escalated as multiple police complaints were filed against Allahbadia and others involved in the show. The Mumbai Police registered an FIR against Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, and comedian Samay Raina for promoting obscenity and using offensive language. Additionally, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Guwahati Police had registered a case against Allahbadia and others for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions on the show.

In light of the controversy, Samay Raina removed all episodes of “India’s Got Latent” from YouTube. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also called for immediate action to curb obscene content on social media streaming sites and OTT platforms

As of February 15, 2025, the Mumbai Police have summoned at least 50 individuals to record their statements in connection with the case. When authorities visited Allahbadia’s Mumbai residence, they found it locked and have issued another summons for him to appear.

The situation continues to develop, with legal proceedings underway and discussions about content regulation on digital platforms gaining momentum.
