The clips show Narayan performing the popular song Tip Tip Barsa Paani while several female fans gathered near the stage for selfies. After taking photos, the singer kissed the fans on the lips, sparking widespread outrage across various platforms.
The controversy escalated further when paparazzi teased the singer during the success party of The Roshans documentary series. Photographers jokingly asked Narayan for a kiss, saying, “Sir, ek kiss hojaye.” The singer laughed off the remarks and walked away, but the moment quickly circulated online. Social media users had mixed reactions, with one Reddit user commenting, “It’s all fun and games till Udit grabs the Pap and fulfils his wish,” while another remarked, “That lady looked worried that he might just suddenly attack her with a kiss on his way in!”
Following the controversy, older footage resurfaced showing Udit Narayan kissing other female celebrities, including singers Alka Yagnik and Shreya Ghoshal. In one clip from an Indian Idol event, Narayan is seen kissing Alka Yagnik on the cheek, leaving her visibly shocked as she quickly steps away. Another video shows Alka appearing uncomfortable as Narayan kisses her again at a different event.
In response to the backlash, Udit Narayan addressed the controversy in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. He defended his actions, stating, “Have I (ever) done anything to bring shame to myself, my family or my country? Then why would I do something now at this stage of my life when I have achieved it all? There is a deep pure and unbreakable bond between my fans and I. What you saw in the so-called scandalous video was a manifestation of the love between my fans and I. They love me. I love them back even more.”
The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media about celebrity boundaries and fan interactions.
