New Delhi – In a terrifying turn of events, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times in the back during a botched robbery attempt at his residence last month. The harrowing ordeal left him in need of two major surgeries, including the removal of a three-inch knife blade lodged dangerously close to his spine. Had the attacker inflicted a more severe wound, Saif admits he could have been left permanently paralyzed.
The Shocking Attack
Recounting the traumatic night, Saif revealed that he and his wife, Kareena Kapoor, were fast asleep when a house help rushed into their bedroom at around 2 a.m. The panicked staff member alerted them to an intruder demanding money in their younger son Jeh’s room. Rushing to confront the situation, Saif discovered a masked man standing ominously over Jeh’s bed, gripping what initially appeared to be two sticks but were later identified as sharp hexa blades.
What followed was a desperate struggle for survival. Acting on instinct, Saif grabbed the intruder in an attempt to subdue him. However, the attacker retaliated viciously, stabbing Saif multiple times in the back and neck. As the pain became overwhelming, Saif prayed for someone to intervene. His prayers were answered when a courageous house help, Geeta, managed to pull the assailant away, allowing Saif to momentarily regain control. Seizing the opportunity, he locked the attacker inside Jeh’s room. However, the intruder managed to escape through the same drainpipe he had used to enter the house.
The Aftermath and Hospitalization
It wasn’t until he reached the hospital that Saif realized the severity of his injuries. Doctors revealed that a four-inch blade had penetrated his shoulder blade, coming dangerously close to his spinal cord. The attack resulted in a spinal fluid leakage and temporary numbness in his leg. “Just one millimeter more, and I could have been paralyzed for life,” Saif recounted.
Following a six-hour-long intensive surgery, doctors were able to repair the damage and remove the lodged blade. The actor remains grateful for his survival, acknowledging that the incident could have ended much worse.
Family’s Reaction and Taimur’s Composure
In an emotional conversation with The Times of India, Saif shared how his elder son, Taimur, accompanied him to the hospital instead of Kareena. “He was absolutely composed. He said, ‘I’m coming with you.’ That gave me a lot of comfort. I didn’t want to go alone,” Saif explained. Kareena, on the other hand, stayed behind to ensure their younger son, Jeh, was safe, taking him to her sister Karisma Kapoor’s house.
The horrifying event has left an indelible mark on Saif and his family. While well-wishers continue to express their support, speculation about the authenticity of the incident also surfaced.
